In the grade book there is a zero, and I think I turned in my work; where is my grade?
It is possible that work was turned in, but it did not have a name on it. When a student earns a zero for an assignment, I double check the class papers to make sure I did not miss inputting the grade. Please check the "No Name" box in the classroom (under the donkey). If you have the paper with a grade on it, bring it to me, please.
I held my paper up and showed it to you; why didn't you put it in the grade book?
I need to actually hold the paper in my hand. There are specific instructions for a "No Name" paper. Please follow directions.
My grade was put into the grade book on a day I was not at school, why?
When I put grades in the grade book, I do not adjust the calendar dates. Generally, the date in the grade book is the date I input the grade, not the day it was turned in to me.
Why isn't my grade in the grade book? I turned the work in to the "No Excuses Basket" in the room.
Please keep in mind, that while some due dates are flexible, Tuesday is the cut-off for flexibility. The school policy on absent work is one day for each day a student is absent. I go above and beyond this and give each student until the following Tuesday to turn in any make-up or late work. After Tuesday, the grade remains a zero.
When do you put grades in the grade book from the basket?
I only input grades from the basket on Tuesday each week. Grades remain a zero until Tuesday for work in the basket.
Why did I miss a vocabulary word that I spelled wrong on the quiz?
Vocabulary involves spelling. Students must know the proper use and spelling of their vocabulary words. Generally, the vocabulary words which need to be spelled on an assessment need only be copied correctly from one place to another. Spelling does count.
What is a zero in the grade book?
A zero means you were in the room the day the assignment was due, and you did not turn in your work to me or to the late basket.
What is a 2 (point two) in the grade book?
A .2 in the grade book means you were absent when the work was due, and I have not received it.
What does a .6 (point six) mean in the grade book?
A .6 means you were participating in academic dishonesty (cheating). This will only appear in the grade book as a .6 (you earn no other credit).
What does a .7 (point seven) on the end of my earned grade mean?
A .7 in the grade book means that you did not turn your assignment in when it was due. You either used a homework pass, or you turned the work in to the "No Excuses" basket after the due date
What does a .9 (point nine) on the end of my earned grade mean?
A .9 in the grade book means that you earned extra points, and they were added to the grade.
